Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are the reason for paint’s strong smell, and they have the braincell-killing power of glue. Exposure to high VOCs can result in a host of health problems, including skin irritation, headaches, and difficulty breathing. These compounds are released when the paint is applied and can continue to off-gas for several years. Luckily most waterborne paints have a very low VOC, and at Monarch Paint & Design Centers, we carry several green paint options rated Zero VOC. These are the perfect eco-friendly and animal-safe paints for any home.
With zero VOCs and zero emissions, Eco Spec® is one of the top eco-friendly paints on the market. This green paint is Green Seal certified, which means it was evaluated by an independent non-product product certification industry and received a green product rating. Eco Spec® features an advanced waterborne formula that produces zero VOCs. Choose from a flat, eggshell, or semi-gloss finish, all of which dry quickly for a speedy return to service. You also don’t need to sacrifice color options to have a nontoxic paint because all Eco Spec® paint is mixed with Benjamin Moore’s Gennex® Color Technology, a zero-VOC tinting system.
Bathrooms are small and often humid environments, making it even more important to use green products in these spaces. Aura® Bath & Spa is specially formulated to be ideal for high-humidity environments. The mildew-resistant formula provides extreme hide and coverage while still being low order and Zero VOC. Aura® Bath & Spa is also a paint and primer in one, meaning you need to apply fewer coats to get the same effects. This eco-friendly paint also uses the Gennex® Color Technology zero-VOC tinting system.
This durable, modern, water-thinable coating combines the best features of both acrylic and alkyd formulas. This green product released 90% less VOCs than conventional solvent-borne coatings. In addition to being eco-friendly ECO™ Waterborne Paints are quick drying, scrubbable, and easy to apply. It is the perfect paint for interior and exterior woodwork and trim.
In 1996, Fine Paints of Europe responded to the call for odorless paints by field testing state-of-the-art waterborne formulas from the Netherlands. Eurolux paints are the result of that study. These green paints apply smoothly and evenly and last for ten to fifteen years. The paint is scrubbable, and the color formula guarantees non-yellowing whites. This eco-friendly paint has low toxicity and low VOCs.
Back to Nature is known for its environmentally safe and user-friendly paint removers. These green products can remove up to 15 layers of paint or varnish and are biodegradable, non-flammable, and odor-free. There are several formula options, so you can choose the perfect remover for each situation.
